British starlet Rebecca Ferguson will release a new album in March.
The former ‘X Factor’ runner-up released her critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Heaven’ back in 2011 and immediately impacted with fans not only in the UK, but here in Australia too; hitting the top 20 with its lead single ‘Nothing’s Real But Love’.
Rebecca hit the top 20 in the UK again with ‘I Hope’, the lead single from her sophomore album ‘Freedom’, but sales were nowhere near what her – or presumably her label Sony – were expecting.
Brilliantly, she’s been given the opportunity to record album number three. But it’s a covers set; a reinterpretation of Billie Holiday’s 1956 album ‘Lady Sings The Blues’, recorded at the iconic Capitol Studios in Los Angeles.
While many may lambast the fact Rebecca’s already been put out to cover album pasture, we guess they’ve done so perhaps in the hope that she may find her audience again via that spectacular voice, which is bound to do justice to the songs from the original.
‘Lady Sings The Blues’ will be released in Britain on March 09. No word yet for us here in Oz.
