• We’re still no clearer who the single belongs to… Rihanna or Kanye and Sir Paul, but given ‘FourFiveSeconds’ has bulleted into the top ten on iTunes in Australia just days after its release, it’s proof that fans don’t care what the track sounds like, Rihanna’s name on a single is a license to print money. The track has been serviced to media this week.
• So too have a new track from Leo Sayer, the aforementioned Redfoo single, plus new music for Above & Beyond, Lee Kernaghan and The Weeknd’s slow-burning gem ‘Earned It’ from the ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ soundtrack. As always, keep your eyes peeled on our FACEBOOK page tomorrow for a more comprehensive list.
• Already confirmed as part of the line-up for the GoodLife Festival in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, Lil Jon has now confirmed he’ll be performing a DJ set tour while he’s on ground. Dates are locked in for Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and Darwin.
• And Renee Geyer’s ready to get hearts racing on Valentine’s Day, with a special one-off evening performance at Melbourne’s Wonderland Spiegeltent in Docklands.
• It’s all Mark Ronson on this week’s UK charts. Here, it’s his single ‘Uptown Funk’ with Bruno Mars still doing the business in the top spot. But Meghan Trainor’s ‘Lips Are Movin’ all the way from No.50 to No.2. Avicii’s ‘The Nights’ also enters the top ten; rising from No.16 to No.8.
• And the Ronson story’s the same over on the UK albums chart too; this time with ‘Uptown Special’, the album debuting in the No.1 position this week, edging George Ezra from the top spot. Fall Out Boy’s ‘American Beauty/American Psycho’ is new at No.2, George is down to No.5 and there are further top ten debuts from Enter Shikari’s ‘The Mindsweep’ (No.6) and Belle & Sebastian’s ‘Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance’ (No.9). Björk’s newbie ‘Vulnicura’ just misses the top ten (No.11 on debut), so too new releases for Above & Beyond, The Decemberists, Waterboys and Marilyn Manson.
