Though Europe is geographically thousands of miles away, it hasn’t stopped organisers of this year’s event in Vienna, Austria from revealing this morning that Australia will compete at Eurovision 2015.
After giving audiences a taste of what we had to offer last year via Jess Mauboy’s performance of ‘Sea Of Flags’, along with a cheesy take on our country’s history, it seems we’re in the club.
Australia’s inclusion in the revered annual contest is a one-off to celebrate the competition’s 60th anniversary this year and, although our involvement won’t last beyond 2015 and we’re only competing in the Grand Final on May 23, we will have voting rights on all finals.
The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Vienna, Austria on May 19, 21 and 23.
Here’s more from SBS’ Eurovision host Julia Zemiro.
