We have a sneaking suspicion that the next couple of weeks are going to be rather life-changing for Sam Smith. Not only is he up for half a dozen Grammy Awards this weekend (he’s confirmed to perform alongside Ms Mary J Blige), but he’s also up for a handful of awards at this month’s Brit Awards. We suspect he’ll do rather well at both.
Sam’s smash debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ has also hit the double platinum mark in Australia this week and now there’s a new video to go with the latest single, ‘Lay Me Down’.
And it’s a stunner; all set in the confines of a rather grand old chapel. It kicks off with a funeral; the congregation holding onto their candles to create a truly spectacular backdrop. Then comes a wedding, with all its elation, celebration and spectacle. And we finish with Sam sat on a pew in quiet reflection.
This chap’s gon’ get himself some awards.
