2015 marks a gobsmacking 20 years since Aussie favourite Christine Anu released her critically acclaimed, platinum selling debut album ‘Stylin’ Up’.
The LP brought us Australian classics such as ‘Island Home’, ‘Come On’ and ‘Monkey And The Turtle’, as well as chart favourite ‘Party’ and it remains forever close to Christine’s heart.
“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I released ‘Stylin’ Up’. In many ways it seems like a long time ago, but also the blink of an eye. So many wonderful things happened because of the success of that album and the wonderful songs that appear on it. I am enormously proud of ‘Island Home’ and the special place it holds in the Australian Songbook. Then there are songs like ‘Party’ that still get played on radio and television and is still fun to sing live,” she says.
Naturally, Christine’s not letting such a momentous anniversary go by without throwing a little party (pun intended); she’s announced that she’ll be hitting the road for a series of two hour live shows to perform songs from the album, along with favourites that have appeared in the 20 years since.
“This 20th anniversary is an opportunity to relive and perform the songs from ‘Stylin’ Up’ again and I can’t wait to spend the whole year performing them to audiences across the country.”
