If ever there was a case of the name of a single giving you a little hint of what to expect when you press play, then Tasmanian songstress Asta’s latest track is it.
After ‘Dynamite’ exploded onto the airwaves of Triple J late last week, names like “Whitney Houston” and “Chaka Khan” have been freely bandied about, but it’s not hard to understand why.
See, ‘Dynamite’ is pretty amazing. A beautiful, beefy, mid-tempo beat and stabs of piano are steered perfectly courtesy of Mister Sam Littlemore (Sam La More), while the track’s co-penned by Asta with Aurelia Bliss and Andrew Klippel, who’s no stranger to mainstream chart success (Euphoria, anyone?) and who’s acutely aware of what it takes to create a top notch pop track.
Fans of Roisin Murphy will be moist for this. Us included.
Catch Asta playing at the following gigs next month;
March 26 : Hobart (Arts Festival Spiegeltent)
March 27 : Melbourne (Northcote Social Club)
