Former ‘The Voice’ favourite Ben Hazlewood has moments ago revealed the video for his gorgeous new single ‘Paint Me Black’.
The stirring song is a duet with fellow ‘The Voice’ contestant Mali Koa Hood (sister of 5 Seconds Of Summer member Calum) and is close to Ben’s heart, lyrically dealing with the challenges that he’s had to overcome in his career since appearing on the TV talent contest.
“Paint Me Black is a song about resilience,” the singer said in a statement. “It’s about facing opposition from others trying to bring you down. Opposition from those who don’t share your vision. From people who want to make you feel small. That opposition becomes like a darkness that haunts you, a voice that follows in your footsteps, telling you you’re not good enough, not strong enough, not talented enough. ‘Paint Me Black’ is about my decision to break free from that negativity and go after my dream.”
It’s a gorgeous, stirring and emotional song. Ben and Mali’s voices complement each other perfectly, while the clip is, though simple, dramatic, moody and incredibly stylish.
