Up and coming Melbourne hip hop talent Remi has tonight been crowned the winner of the 10th Australian Music Prize at an exclusive at Sydney’s Paddington Town Hall.
The 23 year old performer won the prize for his June 2014 album ‘Raw X Infinity’ and picks up an incredibly tasty $30,000 cash prize courtesy of PPCA
Naturally, he’s more than a little bit stoked.
“It’s absolutely crazy. We put everything we could into this album and to get this kind of recognition is amazing. I mean, we made this album in Sensible J’s spare bedroom, so to be nominated at this level is pretty mind-blowing. We really just want to say a massive thanks to anyone who has listened to it closely and supported us so far,” he said in a statement.
Remi’s album was chosen as the winner by a 15 strong industry panel made up of media, retailers, producers and other industry types.
