• As mentioned on Monday, former Sony label star Reece Mastin (pictured) has seen his new independently-release single ‘Rebel And The Reason’ delivered to Aussie media this week. It’s the lead single and title track from Reece’s upcoming EP.
• Other newbies hoping to get a little radio love over the next week include Axwell ^ Ingrosso’s ‘On My Way’, Nero’s ‘The Thrill’, Martin Solveig and GTA’s collaboration ‘Intoxicated’ and a new Melody Gardot track called ‘Preacherman’. Check our FACEBOOK page tomorrow for a more comprehensive list of the new tunes.
• British band Muse has released a new official single called ‘Dead Inside’. Lifted from the band’s recently-announced new album ‘Drones’, the song’s digital release comes hot on the heels of that of the grat track ‘Psycho’. ‘Drones’ is due in Australia on Friday June 05.
• Also dropping a new single in the past 24 hours is The Darkness. Their tune is ‘Open Fire’ and it plays the lead role from their new album ‘Last Of Our Kind’. It’s out the week prior to Muse’s ‘Drones’, however.
• Sam Smith and John Legend hold for a second week in the No.1 spot on the British singles chart. Their new duet version of ‘Lay Me Down’ was chosen as this year’s official Comic Relief single, so not only is it a great song, but proceeds are also going to a great cause. Rihanna’s ‘FourFiveSeconds’ improves slightly, while James Bay’s ‘Hold Back The River’ jumps from No.10 to No.4. Tough Love score the week’s highest debut (No.11) with ‘So Freakin’ Tight’.
• And Kendrick Lamar has followed his Australian No.1 chart debut with another in the UK. ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ claims the top spot this week, knocking off Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’. Mark Knopfler’s ‘Tracker’ is new at No.3, Van Morrison’s ‘Duets’ at No.5 and the new Marina & The Diamonds album ‘Froot’ debuts in the No.10 spot.
