So it would appear like Aussie audiences didn’t quite like Rihanna’s second single ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ as they did its predecessor ‘FourFiveSeconds’.
The track premiered respectably enough – at No.14 on the ARIA charts – but fell to No.26 in just its second week. It’s sitting outside the top 30 on iTunes as we speak.
So understandably, the third single has been rush-released to both media and retailers by her label Universal Music.
It’s called ‘American Oxygen’ and it’s the third single from Rihanna’s forthcoming eighth studio album which, given her constant hashtags on her socials, is looking like being called ‘R8’.
It’s not quite as frenzied or as controversial as its predecessor and features more of a tune.
No doubt the success or failure of this single will determine precisely when that all-important album will see the light of day.

All her new singles aren’t very good, or they are, but they are just more “album-track” sounding songs. I don’t know what’s going on, but these new songs do not sound “timeless” like she said they would. I never liked Rihanna anyway, so no loss here.

I know she’s looking for artistic cred, but the singles from R8 have been lacklustre at best. ‘Bitch’ was US urban rubbish and this is just pandering. I keep waiting for the big single.
