The French really don’t have to sweat things ’til the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. As one of the big five, along with the UK, Germany, Spain and Italy, they automatically qualify for the Grand Final, meaning there’s no need to compete against most of their adversaries through the semi finals.
France has gone with tradition again and has fielded a French language track called ‘N’oubliez pas’, which means ‘Don’t Forget’. But can 46 year old songstress Lisa Angell deliver victory? They haven’t won in almost 40 years, so they’ll be hoping so.
A big, dramatic ballad that builds beautifully it may be, but we reckon it’ll finish in the lower half of the voting. Cinq points.
