Aaah the UK. They just don’t seem to have had luck on their side at the Eurovision Song Contest of late. Combined with an anti-UK sentiment across the continent, the wheeling out of long-forgotten vocalists (Engelbert and Bonnie, anyone?) and some genuinely shit song choices, they haven’t placed in the top ten since 2009.
So they’ll be hoping to reverse the trend in 2015, with UK duo Electro Velvet tasked with bringing Eurovision glory home to Britain.
‘Still In Love With You’ is interesting and is virtually guaranteed to stick out no matter what. It’s a little bit ‘Doop’, a little bit ’20s, perhaps even a little bit Mika. So the combination could very well sway some extra votes from the continent.
Naturally, the UK doesn’t have to worry too much because, as part of the “big six”, they’re guaranteed a place in the Grand Final. Six points.
