The guys at Mushroom Group have dropped a bombshell on Australian festival goers this afternoon, confirming that Future Music Festival will not go ahead next year.
Though the event has delivered mammoth names to Australian audiences, this year including Avicii, The Prodigy, Drake, Kiesza, Example, Nero, Martin Garrix, Afrojack and many more, the Mushroom team says that ticket sales for the past two years have “underperformed” and have resulted in their decision to pull the plug for 2016.
“The decision to discontinue Future Music Festival was not made lightly,” says Mushroom Group Chairman Michael Gusinski. “A point came though where it simply no longer made sense to continue. We believe in the festival industry in Australia and plan to announce an exciting new festival concept in the coming months.”
