• Totally underrated Aussie soul superstar Deni Hines is ready to release a brand new album. Entitled ‘The Soul Sessions’ (cover pictured), the release is set to comprise covers of some of Deni’s favourite soul classics from the likes of Whitney, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Arethan Franklin and more. But there’s also a new original song on it called ‘I Got Your Back’. More details (including release date) are expected in the weeks ahead.
• The new Nero album has been confirmed. EMI has reported that we’ll see the band’s new album ‘Between II Worlds’ having its Aussie release on Friday August 28. Lead single ‘The Thrill’ is already available. ‘Between II Worlds’ comes four long years since the release of their debut ‘Welcome Reality’.
• It looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer for the new Natalie Imbruglia album. Entitled ‘Male’, the release, first revealed here on the site a month ago, has been pushed back to August 21.
• Madonna lovers may live for love on a slightly deeper (and deeper) level, with a free download of DJ Dan Murphy’s mash-up edition of the lead single from her recently-released album ‘Rebel Heart’. Listen (and download) HERE.
• So that’d be three weeks in the UK No.1 position for Jess Glynne then. ‘Hold My Hand’ has certainly taken Britain by storm as the former vocalist for Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’ and ‘Real Love’ makes it big in her own right. Brilliantly, Nick Jonas is in on the chart action in the UK this week. His single ‘Jealous’ gets the top ten treatment it deserves, premiering at a very respectable No.2. Years & Years’ ‘King’ isn’t going anywhere and Stevie McCrorie’s ‘Lost Stars’ finds itself at No.6 on debut.
• And the UK albums chart this week belongs to All Time Low, whose new LP ‘Future Hearts’ premieres in the No.1 position, prising out The Prodigy. It’s the usual suspects behind them; James Bay, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith. Drenge’s ‘Undertow’ is the closest debut to All Time Low, but it’s all the way down at No.14.
