Since the turn of the century, Greece has enjoyed a relatively good run in the Eurovision Song Contest. In the 14 years thus far, they’ve placed in the top ten ten times, finishing third in 2001, 2004 and 2008 and winning the competition in 2005 with Helena Paparizou’s perfectly named ‘My Number One’.
Last year was a bit of a disaster, however; the Greeks finishing 20th in the grand final out of 26 countries.
So can 31 year old singer Maria Elena Kyriakou get them back into the top ten this year? She’s certainly got the support of her countrymen and women, winning last year’s first Greek edition of ‘The Voice’.
‘One Last Breath’ is a gorgeous ballad that builds into a dramatic Bond-esque number with big diva vocals that’s sure to garner the attention of judges across Europe and sail through into the Grand Final with no problems whatsoever. Dix points.
