So this is it. The final instalment in our Countdown To Eurovision series for 2015 and if you believe the betting, we’ve saved the best ’til last.
Sweden’s Måns Zelmerlöw is currently favourite to take out the competition in Vienna this year, which could see the Swedes hosting in 2016 for the second time in three years (they won in 2012 with Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’).
‘Heroes’ has already topped the charts in Sweden, has done rather well for itself in neighbouring Finland and, despite placing at 13 in the second semi final on Thursday, could do very well across the rest of the continent come Saturday night.
It’s like a combination of that country vibe that worked so darned well for Avicii, Pitbull and Ke$ha, plus a dance/pop anthem with layers of vocals in the chorus that seems to give it a euphoric feel that makes it stand out from the rest.
The Swedes know their pop. And this one will take a lot of beating. Douze points.
