• Australia’s inclusion in the 60th anniversary edition of the Eurovision Song Contest has paid dividends for Guy Sebastian, whose fifth place finish in Saturday night’s event has seen his single ‘Tonight Again’ rocket to the upper reaches of the iTunes singles chart. Guy took to the stage in Vienna like the true professional he is, impressing all with his pitch-perfect vocals and even a few fancy dance moves, resulting in his single hitting No.2 on iTunes, right behind Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’.
• Also impressing on iTunes is eventual winner Måns Zelmerlöw from Sweden, whose single ‘Heroes’ Australia gave 12 points. The track has made its way into the top ten locally in the wake of the competition. His album ‘Perfectly Damaged’ is now on the local schedule for a June 05 release.
• Former ‘The Voice’ winner Anja Nissen is also impressing on the iTunes chart with her cover version of the Bacharach/David classic ‘Anyone Who Had A Heart’. The track has been heavily featured on promos for the latest season of Channel 9’s ‘Love Child’.
• We’re hearing rumour that Ms Samantha Jade will soon grace us with a new single. We’re also hearing that said new single might have a name that sounds decidedly similar to that of a now-three piece British manband.
• US songstress Bonnie McKee will release a new EP at the end of next month. The four track ‘Bombastic’ EP is already available for pre-order on our iTunes store, with the title track available to purchase immediately. The EP will follow on June 30.
• Among the new tunes winding their way to radio this week are Duke Dumont’s ‘The Giver’, Evangeline’s ‘Chemicvl’, Tkay Maidza’s ‘M.O.B.’ and the new Tiesto single (featuring vocals from Australia’s own Vassy) ‘Secrets’. Naturally, we’ll be bringing you our regular weekly wrap over at our FACEBOOK page tomorrow.
• Right then. So after getting a big fat hit down under with ‘Cheerleader’, Omi has a firm grasp on the No.1 spot in the UK, maintaining his heading in the pole position for a fourth consecutive week. Wiz Khalifa shuffles back to No.2, while LunchMoney Lewis drops to No.3. Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ video premiere last week sends the single rocketing into the No.4 position on debut, while Ella Eyre just misses a top ten berth with her new single ‘Together’ (New at No.11). Our own Sheppard debuts at No.36 with their former Aussie No.1 ‘Geronimo’.
• And Brandon Flowers’ new solo album has had ‘The Desired Effect’ on the British albums chart, debuting in the No.1 position, right ahead of Paul Weller’s newbie ‘Saturns Pattern’. Mumford & Sons’ ‘Wilder Mind’ slips to three, while further top ten debuts come courtesy of Faith No More (‘Sol Invictus’ at No.6) and Mariah Carey (‘#1 To Infinity’ at No.8).

Let’s hope Samantha Jade’s new single is GREAT so we can get an album already! Loved “Sweet Talk” …Sad that it didn’t do as well as it should have.
