We guess having one of the planet’s biggest pop hits in a number of years isn’t a bad problem to have. But for British producer Mark Ronson, it has become a bit of an issue for the follow-up singles to smash ‘Uptown Funk’.
Simply put, ‘Uptown Funk’ was so big, its impact so lasting and its success so wide-ranging that the couple of other songs that have been thrown at media in its wake simply haven’t been able to enjoy their time in the sunshine.
Now, with almost 30 weeks after ‘Uptown Funk’, the timing seems just about right for Mark to unleash ‘I Can’t Lose’.
Like it’s predecessor, the feel-good factor’s turned way up, Keyone’s vocals are sublime and there have been some pretty cool special effects added in post, no doubt thanks in part to the not-so-subtle product placement for a particular alcoholic beverage. Not once, but twice, mind you. Surely ‘Uptown Funk’ earned Mark enough coin to negate the need for that?
