This second chapter of the MKTO story could prove to be make or break for Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller. Sure, they achieved top ten success here in Australia with both their breakout hit ‘Thankyou’ and its super-smooth follow-up ‘Classic’, but beyond the latter, nothing really stuck over in their native USA.
‘Bad Girls’ marks the beginning of the second chapter and they’re going to have to pull their socks up a little if they’re to make it stick; the song languishing outside the top 50 on iTunes after its release last week.
So can the video turn its fortunes around?
It’s cute. Malcolm and Tony are taken captive by a horde of ‘Bad Girls’; tied up and left to salivate over all the sweaty girl flesh in the camp. How will they escape? Or, more’s the point, do they actually want to?
Cute track, yes. But we’re not sure it’s quite strong enough to deliver them a third top ten Aussie hit.
