Aussie chart, industry and Triple J favourite Chet Faker has announced a trio of East Coast headline shows later this year.
The Melbourne native has achieved incredible success over the past couple of years, collecting his own iTunes Sessions EP, a top ten single in ‘Talk Is Cheap’, AIR Awards and ARIA Awards and the coveted No.1 spot on the ARIA albums chart with his debut long player ‘Built On Glass’.
The ‘Built On Live Tour’ encompasses dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in what’s set to be a final celebration of said No.1 album and, according to touring agent Frontier, the last time we’ll be seeing Chet in the live arena for “quite a while”.
And there’s an extra reason to pop along to one of the shows, with never-before-performed-live songs to make the setlist, including a new song called ‘Bend’.
“‘Bend’ was on ‘Built On Glass’ until the last minute,” Chet says in a statement. “I recorded it in 2013 and kinda wanted to put it out since. It’s always felt like a part of ‘Built On Glass’ and since this tour is the sort of live “director’s cut” of the album, it made sense to release this before it lost context.”
‘Bend’ will be released this Friday.
A Frontier pre-sale for the Melbourne and Brisbane shows kicks off from Monday June 22. Opera House members get access to a pre-sale for the Sydney show from 11am on Wednesday June 24. General public tickets for all shows are live on the sales desk from noon on Thursday June 25.
