There’s no denying the decade of influence on ‘City Of Light’, the debut single from a loose Sydney collective known as Sugarz.
Headed by songstress and instrumentalist Kimberly Aviso (pictured, left), we’re informed that each batch of new music from Sugarz will be different from the last, given that the project will see a “revolving door” of different producers and musos working on it.
This time around, she’s worked with Melbourne-based producer Benny Badge, who’s infused the song with original ’80s synths that give it a decidedly retro flavour.
And given pop’s current penchant for all things ’80s, this single has seemingly landed ride on time (pun intended).
