British four piece Girl Friend are at it again, releasing another scintillating pop single off the back of their altogether brilliant ‘Arrive Alone, Leave Alone’ EP, which they dropped back in April.
The Manchester foursome only came together in the middle of 2014, but with every release, they gain more fans in the right places, with the likes of The Guardian, NME and Q Magazine among the many to have been beguiled by their catalogue.
‘Poison’ is another gem. Nods to their idols of the ’80s (including Roxy Music and Soft Cell) are obvious, but there’s a freshness and assuredness in their music and their lyric that suggests that as long as they play their cards right, the only way is up from here on in.
