He might be only 17 years of age and be entirely self taught, but New South Wales producer Kuren is reaching all the right sets of ears with his blissful blend of electronica, including Triple J, who featured him on this year’s list of “five new indigenous artists you need to hear”.
‘It Still Hurts’ is the latest release from the Hillston native (real name Curtis Kennedy) and it’s full of the feels, drawing inspiration from a broken heart.
“This one is for all those who lost someone dear to them,” he says of the track on his Soundcloud page (below).
The song is incredibly confident and predominantly instrumental, up until the two and a half minute mark, when a few tweaked vocal samples flood in to mix things up a bit in amongst the strains of piano and synths.
And brilliant, it’s available as a free download for the time being in the lead-up to the release of his ‘Love Lost’ EP next month.
