Manchester outfit Girl Friend, who’ve fast become a bit of an auspOp favourite, are back with a brand new single, ‘Girl Friend’.
Join us as we take our first listen to the song and talk about various points and highlights within it;
0:09 : Already loving the vocal and the little bust of pop keys.
0:11 : Oh hello, there’s a driving dance beat here.
0:21 : Ooh listen to those dreamy BVs.
0:30 : We sense our first chorus coming on… let’s hope it’s good.
0:38 : Well that picked up a couple of notches. Totally effervescent.
0:46 : Nice key change.
1:05 : Oooh what’s that synth line from… sounds so familiar. Could it be something Sneaky Sound Sydney-esque?
1:07 : Shoosh please… there’s another verse coming in.
1:37 : And by gad, here, right on cue, is another chorus!
2:30 : This bridge is most amiable.
2:37 : It’s another hands-in-the-air chorus.
2:58 : This could get stuck in our heads.
3:22 : That’s the end?
‘Good Morning’ is a totally likeable three and a bit minute slice of bouncy electronic pop that, if vocalled by Ms Connie, wouldn’t have sounded out of place on a Sneaky Sound System album. So if that sound’s your bag, you’re bound to love it.
