Central Queensland songstress Sophie Phillis got three chairs to turn (Ricky, Delta and Seal) on the 2013 edition of ‘The Voice Australia’, impressing with her rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Beautiful Disaster’ (refresh your memory HERE).
Though she ultimately joined Team Delta, she was eliminated in the Battle Rounds.
But it seems Sophie’s quite the fighter and is ready to go into battle again, this time with the release of her forthcoming debut EP ‘Craving’.
And, she says, the lead single – and title track – is all about love.
“‘Craving’ really started taking shape during a retreat in Tuscany, the first quiet moments I had after some turbulent party years at uni,” she says in a statement. “I was listening to Christina Aguilera’s ‘Back To Basics’ on repeat, and the words started to flow from the memories it brought up – some fresh wounds were re-surfacing from a past significant break up and the unresolved questions of what could have been.”
The EP comprises five tracks, including ‘Craving’, ‘Keep Moving’, ‘Give Me A Reason’, ‘Just Leave Me’ and a cover version of The Butterfly Effect’s ‘Gone’.
The ‘Craving’ EP will be released on Friday.
