• There are plenty of new tunes doing the rounds at media this week, but they don’t come bigger than the new Justin Bieber single ‘What Do You Mean?’. The track has been instantly embraced by his Aussie fans, who’ve kept it at the top of the local iTunes chart since its release on Friday.
• Also making their way to local media this week are Tina Arena’s aforementioned ‘I Want To Love You’, ‘The Voice’ winner Ellie Drennan’s ‘Ghost’, the Macklemore/Ryan Lewis single ‘Downtown’ and Afrojack’s new collaboration with Pitbull, ‘Summerthing!’. • Aussie singer songwriter Dan Kelly also has a new single at media this week. It’s called ‘Never Stop The Rot’ and it’s lifted from his just-announced fourth studio album ‘Leisure Panic’, which is due next month. Recorded in Sydney, Melbourne, Nimbin and in London, the album is available for pre-order now for a Friday October 09 release. A late October tour is set to be announced shortly.
• You may remember the name Nicole Millar from her collaboration with Peking Duk, ‘High’. The team at EMI has confirmed they’ve now welcomed her as the newest member of the EMI Australia family. Nicole will be making the step into the mainstream via a forthcoming single and EP, which she’s penned in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as Los Angeles. We’ll bring you more information as it comes to hand.
• Melbourne-based production wunderkind Yeo will celebrate the release of his new single ‘Icarus’ with a trio of live shows across the East Coast in the middle of next month. He’ll hit up the stages of Shebeen in Melbourne on October 17, the Newtown Social Club in Sydney on October 18 and Woolly Mammoth in Brisbane on October 24 and tickets are on sale now. A full length album is expected later this year.
• And reggae royalty will descend upon Australia early next year, with Eddie Grant, Sly & Robbie and Inner Circle all confirmed for shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Between them, the acts have amassed a catalogue of hits, which they’ll roll out for fans at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney and the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on February 17 and 18 respectively. Tickets for both are on sale from 10am on Thursday September 10.
