The fans have spoken. And Reece Mastin’s label Social Family Records has responded. ‘Even Angels Cry’ is the lead single from the singer’s about-to-be-released new album ‘Change Colours’.
After a world-first campaign on Twitter to choose the first single resulted in more than 5000 retweets, the single has been officially serviced to Australian media this morning.
Co-penned alongside Michael Paynter, Michael DeLorenzis and Audra Mae, Reece explains the meaning behind the lyric.
“This song is about the world being so caught up in the stereotypes and trying so hard to make everything and everyone fit in, that we forget how to be honest and be ourselves,” he says. “From such a young age there is so much pressure to conform, we can easily get lost. And it’s sad that so many people can be pushed away from following their dreams. Hopefully this song gives some people the hope and strength they need to stand up and face the challenges and follow their hearts. I really hope it encourages people to be open minded and supportive of others, because everyone goes through hard times…and I hope it reminds us all that we can have a voice, we can smile and be happy.”
It’s the first shot in what’s shaping up as a big week for Reece, with his album ‘Change Colours’ due for release on Friday, the same day he embarks on a run of instore appearances across the country.
