Adelaide duo Nakatomi looks like they might be about to cut through (pun intended) into the mainstream via their new single ‘The Knife’.
Laden with ’80s influences and retro disco beats, it’s incredibly familiar, not only in sound, but also in the lyricism, which is all about the breakdown of love.
“‘The Knife’ is about the downward spiral of bad experiences or relationships, but choosing to see some beauty in the fall rather than getting consumed by it,” vocalist Emily Smart says of the track.
To celebrate the release of the single, the band will be playing live dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide over the next six weeks, kicking off with the launch party in their hometown on October 30.
October 30 : Adelaide (Rocket Bar)
November 20 : Werribee (Mynt Lounge)
November 22 : Melbourne (Toff In Town)
November 26 : Sydney (Oxford Art Factory)
