The Pop Single Of 2015. Always a difficult task popping all of our favourite releases from across the year into a little box and shuffling them into some semblance of order.
But we’ve done so for the past eight years here at auspOp and we’re already well into our countdown of the best pop singles of the past 12 months.
Our No.7 single of 2015 is a duet. And a sensational duet at that.
Honestly, we’ve not been big fans of Birdy. She’s had a couple of decent hits here in Australia, yes, but we’ve never really gelled with her songs or her vocals. But put said vocals in the same studio as those of fellow British singer Rhodes and you’ve got four minutes and 40 seconds of magic.
Penned by Rhodes and, as he told us during our POP CHAT in early November, originally destined to be a Birdy solo song, the melding of the duo’s different vocal tones and the gospel-esque layering in the choruses of ‘Let It All Go’ make it a spine-tingling masterpiece.
We couldn’t get enough of this one throughout the year.
Birdy & Rhodes’ ‘Let It All Go’ is our No.7 Pop Single Of The Year.
