Reigan Derry will have you ready for the holidays this season, confirming the release this Friday of a new Christmas EP.
Entitled ‘December’, the four tracker features four festive classics, all given a reworking by the former ‘X Factor’ starlet.
“The songs I’ve chosen to cover are all between 100-200 years old,” she said in a statement. “I wanted to pay respect to the original songs by keeping the melodies and lyrics the same but changing the structure, tempo and chords.”
‘Grace’ is, of course, an interpretation of ‘Amazing Grace’. ‘Star Of Wonder’ re-interprets ‘We Three Kings’, ‘Rejoice’ presents a new take on ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel’ and ‘Holly’ breaths fresh life into the Christmas classic ‘Deck The Halls’.
Each song is stripped back and each was recorded live, giving Reigan’s audience the chance to appreciate her vocals raw.
“My family are quite festive. We play Christmas music from the 1st of December until Boxing Day. I have so much Christmas music on my iTunes but I didn’t have any of the timeless carols! I wanted to open these songs up and share some of my favourites.”
The ‘December’ EP will be released on Friday.
