It’s a staggering 14 years since Vanessa Carlton broke onto the Australian music chart with her No.1 smash single ‘A Thousand Miles’.
The single hit double platinum down under and was set to pave the way for phenomenal future success. But, apart from its successor ‘Ordinary Day’, which peaked just inside the top 50, that success never eventuated, despite some excellent singles, including 2004’s ‘White Houses’.
But the team from Universal Music has today confirmed that Vanessa’s fifth studio album ‘Liberman’ will be released here this month.
Accompanying lead single ‘Operator’ are nine other new recordings on a body of work that Vanessa describes as “a calm record”.
“I didn’t want any angst in there. I thought, ‘What would I want to hear back? What would make me feel better in my darker times? This album leans toward seeing the good in humans and in the world,” she says.
‘Liberman’ will be released in Australia on Friday January 29.
