Never one to shy away from the issues that matter, Irish singer songwriter Hozier touches on the issue of domestic violence in his latest single ‘Cherry Wine’.
Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan (‘Atonement’, ‘Brooklyn’) stars in the moving clip as a woman who can’t seem to let go, despite suffering at the hand of her partner. Combined with Hozier’s divine vocal, it’s utterly heartbreaking.
“Domestic violence is an ongoing issue in our society, the statistics of which are shocking and the effects of which damage whole families, communities and span generations,” Hozier says in a statement. “With the song ‘Cherry Wine’, I tried to get across the difficulty of coming to terms with and facing up to domestic violence and the dynamic of an abusive relationship.
