True to their word, The Cat Empire has followed up last month’s announcement of shows across the East Coast (and Adelaide) with confirmation of extra dates in Brisbane, regional New South Wales and Queensland.
Toowoomba now has the honour of kicking off touring proceedings on May 04, followed by a double date at The Tivoli in Brisbane on May 06 and 07. Other new gigs to follow are on the Gold Coast, in Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Newcastle and Bateau Bay, along with a third show at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, after the first two at the same venue sold out.
The tour is in support of their recent No.1 album ‘Rising With The Sun’ and frontman Felix Reibl promises that the shows will be one big party.
“There’s a lot of celebration on ‘Rising With The Sun'”, he said. “In terms of ‘celebrating’ what The Cat Empire is, and what it means to people to come to the shows and be a part of that celebration and self-abandon for a night. I don’t want to make grand statements about whether it’s our best album or not,… It doesn’t really matter. It’s true to what the band is and what has kept people coming back to our shows for quite a long time (and) that’s something that’s really great.”
