It was just over a week ago that Bat For Lashes (aka British pop songstress Natasha Khan) announced the July 01 release of her new album ‘The Bride’.
She kicked off the LP campaign by releasing album opener ‘I Do’ and the lead single ‘In God’s House’ as grat tracks when pre-ordering. Let’s call that move choosing not to add gypsophila to the bridal bouquets.
Let’s then call the unveiling of the video for ‘In God’s House’ her choosing the perfect, flowing ivory bridal gown. Or, as in the video, a fire engine-red ensemble, complete with veil, which she wears to head into the Californian nothingness to pay her respects at her fiancé’s gravesite, her illuminated car parked nearby.
Credit to both Natasha and her co-director John De Menil for creating a piece that’s visually sublime, in particular the gorgeous silhouetted shots of the singer against the darkening sky.
