Armenia’s Eurovision history isn’t an especially long one, having only been part of the competition since 2006. But they’ve done surprisingly well in that time, placing top ten in six of the nine years in which they’ve competed (they sat out the 2012 edition).
So with such an impressive history, they’ll be hoping that Iveta Mukuchyan can deliver the goods again in 2016.
And Iveta is no stranger to singing competitions, having been part of the 2009 Armenian version of ‘Idol’ and the 2012 German edition of ‘The Voice’ (she was born in Germany). So she’s already got a presence in both countries.
So what’s her single ‘LoveWave’ like? It’s an interesting piece. A pop ballad, with subtle Middle Eastern influences and plenty of intricacies that allow Iveta the opportunity to showcase her powerful vocals.
It’ll be interesting to see how this translates to the live stage. And whether Armenia makes it beyond the first of the semi finals. Sept points.
