Given their performance last year, Iceland has turned to a familiar face to represent them at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Greta Salóme is no stranger to the Eurovision stage, having represented her country in the competition’s 2012 edition in Azerbaijan (albeit as part of a duo), placing 20th out of 26 countries which, though not a spectacular result, was a damn sight better than last year, when Iceland failed to qualify for the final.
So Greta will hope to improve the country’s fortunes via her English language single ‘Hear Them Calling’, which she’ll perform in the first of the semi finals, on May 10.
It would appear they’ve been a little inspired by Måns Zelmerlöw’s ‘Heroes’, as the track is a high energy dance number, complete with a big, joyous chorus, big pop production and a live performance (back in Iceland, at least), in which Greta interacts with visuals on the screen behind her. Let’s give it Huit points.
