How has Slovenia fared in the Eurovision Song Contest over the years?
Well not brilliantly, it has to be said. They’ve never won. Or come second or third. Or fourth. Or fifth or sixth for that matter.
Their best-placed finish was seventh – in both 1995 and 2001 – but in recent years, they’ve struggled against much stronger competition.
Former TV talent show songstress ManuElla will take to the stage in the midst of the second semi finals in the hope of triumphing for her country in 2016. Her song ‘Blue And Red’ has already hit the top five in Slovenia, so the locals love it. What about us?
Well it’s the first banjo we’ve heard in the competition thus far. And it’s a bit of a country crossover number, which means that it’ll stand out quite nicely against the rest of the competition.
It’s got a key change and a Bucks Fizz-esque costume rip that, if performed on the night, might give her some extra points.
