Introducing Adelaide duo Auguste, who have just debuted their sophomore single ‘Kingdom’ and its music video, which is brimming with contemporary dance.
The girls (Skye Lockwood and Beth Keough) rose to prominence quite quickly via their debut single ‘Slow Motion’ which notched up plays in the hundreds of thousands on their Soundcloud account and they’re no doubt hoping to replicate that success with ‘Kingdom’.
“‘Kingdom’ is about personal space and the challenges we face when others are invading that space in a negative way,” says Skye. “It’s really a bit of an ‘eff you’ to anyone who has ever tried to control you or tell you what to do.”
As for the video, in which dancers Jess Statton and Aiden Kane Munn battle it out for supremacy… “The song is called ‘Kingdom’ because of the lyric ‘this corner is my kingdom’, so there is royal imagery worked into the scenes. We wanted the clip to evoke that feeling of ownership.”
Sprinkle in production on the single by the incredible Andy Bull (one of this country’s most underrated pop talents) and you’ve got an altogether compelling piece of home-grown pop.
‘Kingdom’ is released digitally this Friday.
