When EMI tells us that the new Ladyhawke video is “psychedelic”, they’re not kidding around. It’s like a trip back to the ’80s with its frizzy perms, bursts of neon and retro technology (check out that old Panasonic TV/video in the opening scenes and the cystal-plastic telephone that follows).
Further proof that Pip’s aimed for an ’80s throwback is that the clip is set in a video store… not a DVD in sight.
Store attendant pops an old VHS into said TV/video unit, which then bursts to life with colour, movement and Ladyhawke herself performing her infectious new track.
The video has more than a little effect on the store attendant who bursts from her almost-slumber to begin to suck the marrow out of life (yep, that’s a ‘Dead Poets Society’ quote), pashing all and sundry. Pretty soon, it’s an all-out pash-fest.
Cute, tongue in cheek, and all set to what’s a cracking good pop song to welcome Ladyhawke back to planet pop.
