Credit where it’s due to Brisbane singer songwriter Phil Hancock, whose latest music video would put plenty of those from some of the major labels in the shade.
It looks like it’s had oodles spent on it; from its sinister-feeling cinematic beginning and its dark and spooky locations to the spectacular drone footage… even the cinematography and editing are a cut above the norm.
It follows Phil and Queensland model Brittaney Johnston as they attempt to escape the evil clutches of a cult. They’re on the run, but the clan is hot on their heels. Will they be caught?
It’s all drawn (albeit in a much more dramatic fashion) from personal experience.
“I think it’s easy for people to fall in with the wrong crowd,” Phil explains. “I found myself hanging with a group of people who were very possessive and who all had a cult-like relationship with each other that was quite intense and scary. I really wanted to explore that and take it to the extreme in this video.”
The track is the lead single from Phil’s recently-released ‘Fox’ EP.
