Georgia has only been part of the Eurovision competition since 2007 and haven’t done too badly for themselves in those nine years so far. They sat out 2009 and didn’t make the grand final in 2012 or 2014, but apart from that, they’ve been middle of the pack (and as high as ninth) in the Grand Finals each year; certainly nothing to be sneezed at.
Described as an indie rock outfit, four piece band Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz will perform a song called ‘Midnight Gold’ right towards the end of the second semi final this Thursday.
It’s pretty much a straight out rock song. Not too heavy, mind you, because we know that Europe loves its pop. But it contains just enough rock elements, rock guitars and crashing drums to ensure it’ll stand out in amongst the largely electronic field. It even turns into an almost-dance number towards the end, as a driving bassline kicks in.
It’s interesting, but not really our bag. Quatre points.
