If you haven’t jumped on board the Client Liaison business class jet at this stage, best you do it via their latest single ‘World Of Our Love’, because it could just be this little track that takes them to indie-pop favourites to mainstream chart heroes.
With their national tour kicking off at Villa in Perth tonight, the boys have delivered the video for said new single, a spectacularly realised animated piece created by Melbourne company Oh Yeah Wow.
“Being Client Liaison’s first animated endeavour, it was immensely exciting to explore the unlimited potential that the medium afforded us, while playing around with the rich character and stylistic vision the guys have created for themselves in their previous releases,” directors Mike Greaney and Aaron McDonald said in a statement. “It’s fairly rare that you get the opportunity to work with a band that has such a richly established visual identity, so it made our job really easy from a conceptual starting point, then it was just a matter of refining everything and making sure we created the biggest, most outrageous and most badass clip possible.
“It’s an absurdist pastiche of cultist and Australiana iconography, retro-future architecture, and exotic wild animals. We packaged these ideas up in a visual style that was heavily inspired by late 80’s “Masters of the Universe” cartoons and then basically just had a blast coming up with the most outrageous ideas we could think of within that frame work.”
You’ll discover snags on the barbie, the Sydney Opera House, a nod to ‘Crocodile Dundee’, a can of Fosters, a Newton’s cradle (whatever happened to them!?), a Victa lawnmower, the Big Banana, a case-full of ARIA Awards and so much more.
And if you look super-closely, you might just see some familiar faces playing a game of political chess.
