The new Abraham Tilbury single, ‘Morphine’, is impossible to ignore.
Formerly known as Allthingslost, the producer has upped sticks and shifted from his Brisbane base to the streets of Melbourne, where he’s eagerly plunging into the next chapter of his career.
And if ‘Morphine’ is any indication, said next chapter (which includes the forthcoming release of an EP entitled ‘Knife’) is going to be full of excitement and adventure.
“‘Morphine’ was first conceived during a writing session in Brisbane last year whilst recording a bunch of acoustic piano ideas from another project with Fionn Richards,” Abraham explains. “I quickly commandeered an acoustic piano snippet from this session and wrote a song talking about dependence in relationships and learning to be comfortable with myself. It wasn’t until moving that I was able to start breaking down these ideas, and with a newfound focus and the help of close friends, I was able to finish the song and create something I am really happy with.”
We’d be happy with it too; Though it’s only a little over three minutes in length, it certainly packs a punch, with its dreamy electronic production and Abraham’s honeyed vocals.
