It’s going to be a red hot summer for Iva Davies and the boys from Icehouse, as the iconic band prepares to celebrate the landmark 40th anniversary of its first ever live performance.
“40 years ago we had no idea that the band would last longer than a year, let alone still be performing four decades later,” Iva says of the milestone. “There have been a lot of people involved over the years who have made all the shows happen and I’m always thankful for their efforts. As we tour now there is still the thrill of walking out onto the stage like there was back in 1977, and we hope to continue to take the audiences on the journey with us.”
Not only has the band, famous for such classic Australian hits as ‘Electric Blue’, ‘Crazy’, ‘Don’t Believe Anymore’, ‘Hey Little Girl’ and ‘Great Southern Land’, confirmed a run of 40th anniversary headline shows of their own, but they’ll also headline the 2017 edition of the Red Hot Summer Tour.
The 40th anniversary shows currently sees the band performing in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart, but a Melbourne show (or two) will be announced shortly.
On the Red Hot Summer Tour, they’ll be sharing the stage with other Aussie legends James Reyne, Daryl Braithwaite, Shannon Noll, Dragon and Pseudo Echo.
Tickets for the band’s headline dates are on sale now, while tickets for the Red Hot Summer Tour are on sale from 9am on Monday August 29.
