The Avalanches want to keep the ball rolling on their much-celebrated comeback from that 16 year hiatus, dropping the music video for their latest single ‘Subways’.
The track is plucked from the band’s long-awaited No.1 sophomore album ‘Wildflower’, which just bobbed its head out of the top 20 over the weekend for the first time since its release seven weeks ago. i.e. the timing for the new clip is perfect.
According to EMI, the animated piece is a collaboration with French illustrators Mrzyk & Moriceau and Parisian production company Division, who take us on a mind-bending trip through the New York City Subway system.
Visually, it reminds us of one of those mind-warping ‘Sesame Street’ animated videos (the pinball one comes to mind) from the ’70s and ’80s. Very colourful, very trippy.
