These happy looking chaps look familiar to you, don’t they? Well isn’t that just fascinating…
They’re both called Anders. They’re both Danish. And they probably look rather familiar to you because both were members of that fluffy Danish pop outfit Alphabeat, who brought us such delightful pop nuggets as ‘Fascination’, ‘The Spell’, ‘DJ’ and ‘Boyfriend’ (remember that smashing Pete Hammond mix?).
Now, however, the pair is known as Thanks. And unbeknownst to us (as it wasn’t available here), they released a single earlier in the year entitled ‘Dizzy’.
BUT… the good news is that their new single, ‘Livin’ My Life’ IS available to us here in Australia and we present it to you this morning for your listening pleasure.
The boys’ pop influences are still right there in the production, with its handclaps and fresh ’80s-leaning dance beats. But there’s another little chapter to the familiarity story here… it borrows from the super-smooth Jill Scott single ‘Golden’.
“The idea for ‘Livin’ My Life’ came from stumbling upon an acapella on YouTube,” the boys explain. “Not knowing the original song, we thought this sounded like a hook for a disco song and we actually ended up finishing our track before listening to the original song, which resulted in funky chopped-up jam with some serious boogie vibes”.
‘Livin’ My Life’ is out now.
