We’re partnering with Melbourne songstress Myami this morning to officially premiere the video for her new single ‘The Fire’.
The opening scenes, filmed late at night in the shadows of a major Melbourne freeway, feature a bank of television screens, all lit to show Myami seemingly trapped within them.
We then see that beyond the TV screens, Myami’s trapped within a dimly lit room that looks like a scene from an arthouse horror flick. It’s this confinement that seems intrinsically linked to the subject matter of the song.
“‘The Fire’ is about being you being a hindrance to your own success or progression,” Myami explains. “It’s about having goals that you want to achieve, but sometimes our own self doubt, distractions, apathy and negative self talk prevent us from getting there.
“The video reflects almost being trapped in the televisions and forever being closely watched and analyzed when in actual fact the televisions aren’t being watched by anyone. It represents that feeling of being under close examination, when really it is only you who is paying such close attention.”
Myami will launch the track with a performance at Hugs & Kisses in her hometown on Saturday October 15.
Also, keep your eyes peeled on the site in the coming days for a new Get To Know feature with her.
In the meantime, may we present the auspOp Premiere of the video for Myami’s ‘The Fire’.
