Could a young Swedish pop starlet called My have just dropped the year’s most intriguing new pop single, ‘White Water’? We think she may have.
According to her publicists, My counts Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills and Nash and ABBA as some of her early musical influences, but this, her debut single, is more the latter than the former two.
It’s one of those songs that sounds oh-so-right for now; the kind of track that could explode onto the local charts – ala MØ’s ‘Final Song’ – if given the right opportunities. It’s utterly refreshing.
“‘White Water’ is about letting go of control, like a wild river coming alive from the winter, with white water breaking through the ice,” My says of her debut release.
A debut album is to follow at some stage in 2017.
“A new pop force has arrived,” her publicists cry. Who are we to argue?
