The Peking Duk boys will be on the red carpet at the ARIAs this afternoon, but we’re starting the day with their ‘Stranger’ video on auspOp.
Though they’re not up for any awards tonight, Adam and Reuben will no doubt spend plenty of time on the red carpet waxing lyrical about their new single, which features a vocal appearance from Sweden’s Elliphant.
Speaking of lyrical, the boys explain that the meaning behind the track is “how comfortable it can actually be, realising the city around you is getting up, whilst, at the time you have no cares in the world. A big night followed into a sunrise can be one of the most inspiring occasions one can experience.”
And, naturally, the native Canberrans wanted a video that would not only capture the essence of the song, but do so with a sense of humour. To do so, they enlisted the help of two four legged friends.
“The concept for the video came together as soon as we finished the lyrics,” the boys explain.
“We were at a pub in Stockholm with Elli thinking of different ideas for which way the video’s story should go. We quickly gravitated towards the simple idea of following the story in the lyrics…
“We wanted to capture the feeling that everyone has felt at least once at the end of a big night. We wanted to reproduce those times where you want to keep the night going, and preferably with someone else riding that same wave as you. When it’s done right it can be magical.”
