British soul songstress Rebecca Ferguson has delivered the music video for the title track of her new album ‘Superwoman’.
Things kick off with Bec speaking to camera, telling us about all the times she’s been wronged by this world.
But her spirit is unbroken, her resolve intact and she’s ready to roar.
That said, ‘Superwoman’ is far from the self-empowerment anthem the title suggests; moreover it’s an admission from Rebecca that she has flaws, she stuffs up sometimes, but that she’s real and what you’ll get from her is honesty and vulnerability.
And, to be honest, that’s what we like about her most. She IS raw. She IS vulnerable. But that voice… with the aid of a gospel-inspired chorus, it gets the chance to really shine here.
It’s a shame that the Aussie record buying public (and her label Sony to a certain extent) seemed to forget she existed after her debut. ‘Cause she’s pretty damned impressive.
